Fizzy Hearts & Stars: Baking Soda & Vinegar Experiment!

I'd written about our first Baking Soda and Vinegar Experiment we had conducted. It went so well that I always have a ready supply of the ingredients at home! Bring out the cups and we can spend an hour well.

The Practical Mom: Fizzy Hearts & Stars: Baking Soda & Vinegar Experiment!

This time we used a few hearts and stars mouldings to freeze a mixture of baking soda, paint and water overnight. He's 3 years 2 months old - hence now patient to the concept of freezing overnight ,I.e waiting till next morning to play! Very grown up compared to out first ice activity when he insisted on taking out the tray from the freezer - every ten minutes!!

The next morning, he poured out a little vinegar and sprayed a few squirts of kitchen cleaner into a glass baking dish. Then put in the little hearts and watched them dissolve with bubbles and fizz!

Once all the hearts and stars disappeared, he poured in more baking soda and vinegar to produce more bubbly action!

Then the Stars, in another baking dish:

In all a fun activity, can't wait to do this again!

Until later! Stay in touch!

    1. Yes but I cannot use them in the kitchen now since we didn't use food coloring! In fact his ice cube trays & moulds are used only for his activities!

  6. That is a new take on an old fun activity... my kids have LOVED the vinegar and baking soda fun... and I had to finally limit it so they didn't keep using up all of the vinegar! :) Thank you for this new idea.
