Paint with Ice, Salt & Sugar (Art Studio Diaries #8)

We just recently moved to Santiago, so while we're busy settling in & soaking up  everything thats new to us, not much art is happening. Hence I pulled out some pictures taken during our Summer Art Sessions!

I had frozen a coupla ice slabs in pots and pans a few nights ago. I also froze coloured water in ice cube trays with a craft stick in each cube, to make coloured ice popsicles. And I bought a pack of sugar cubes. I laid out paints, pipettes, and paper.

First I bought out the ice slabs, and had them sprinkle some salt over it to melt the ice quicker to perforate the top. Then via pipettes, they transferred paint over it.

Then I brought out the popsicle ice tray. I kept it put for a few minutes so the individual cubes would be loose enough to be picked out. This ones a bit tricky, cuz if you keep it out for too long, the entire lot gets melted and if you don't keep it out long enough, the cubes don't come loose from the tray! Its okay if you have just one kid, not okay when you have many!

Anyways, They could hold the colored ice cubes with the craft stick and paint over paper. Made some beautiful paintings quickly till all the popsicles melted!

In the end I brought out sugar cubes. They arranged the blocks on plates in whatever way they wanted and dropped paint over it via pipettes.
