Inside Out was the sweetest, nicest, most sensible movie I’d seen last year. I’d absolutely loved the message it sent: It’s alright to be sad. Being sad is as important as being happy! We should not swoop in and calm down a crying child, because denying them their real emotions is worse than a few minutes of crying.
So this is what we dressed up as last Halloween (our first Halloween in the part of the world where you are expected to dress up and not feeling like a wannabe!)
BTW I totally wanted to be DISGUST- because she’s so cool. But talk about finding a dark green wig! Days of futile scanning led me to realise guess what’s super easy to find? A blue wig! So I dressed up as SADNESS- and dressed up the husband as ANGER!
SADNESS is pretty straightforward:
(psst..in retropect, its better to risk colouring the lips blue too to avoid a black face blue face!)
A Skeleton! simply because I had already bought him his costume before the Inside Out idea and he was pretty kicked about it. Sigh. Would’ve loved to paint his face purple for FEAR!
Blue wigs were e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e! All I had to do is cut one short! I made the glasses, painted my face blue, pulled on a baggy grey seater and wore the only blue pants I had (I don’t even believe I owned such a pair of pants!) and act sad!
ANGER wasn’t too difficult either!
I made a box! The most irritating part was drilling holes in front of his eyes - three attempts and yet we failed. I had to escort the poor blind man on the stage!
The clothes were easy peasy - work clothes!
What did the son go as you ask?

OK, now I know that I need to see that movie!
