My kid lo..oves vaseline, lotions, creams. When I asked him to dip his finger in vaseline and rub it over paper he was quite intrigued. Although after a coupla rubs he was like "we cannot even see it! why are we doing this!" hehe. Er, the point is, when you paint over it, you create resist art, as vaseline doesn't mix with paint!
Vaseline thumbprints, lines, hearts, and even smiley faces, all turned out well! The caveat is sticky vaseline-y hands though!

What a neat idea. I'm thinking that my preschoolers will only be partially successful, artistically speaking. Some will scrub the whole page with vaseline. Kindergarteners could do fabulously with this technique! Pinned it.

Between my son and me, it's usually 'team work' cuz he still insists that I do something too...so it turns out okay! There were several other sheets that weren't so okay!
