I was looking forward to Mural Art with little kids in my Art Studio. The idea was to give em a *BIG* canvas to do their thang. They're 3/4 years old so figured the most convenient mural are the glass doors of our balcony! And most convenient medium is tempera paint which can be washed off glass easily.
We have used our glass doors several times before, for art with Dry Erase Markers (White Board Markers) and even Shaving Cream. So why not dive in with some paints too! The doors were due for a cleaning anyways!

I usually dilute paints in containers before the Art Class, so they can down to business right away. I kept out these paint containers, the whole bucket of brushes and lots and lots of sponges. The only instruction I gave them was to paint ONLY on the glass and nowhere else!
And it is obviously exciting to be allowed to do something thats usually off-limits! They loo...oved the giant canvas!
There are ten paint containers, containing brilliant colors such like voilet, yellow, magenta, etc but for some reason they liked the gooey dark green that was the outcome of mixing most of them together ! aaah...kids.
The *caveat* is the giant mess. There was paint all over the floor, and even footprints from the balcony to the washroom as the kids wanted to wash their hands right away (Its a *dream* to have an Art Studio with a wash basin in it! The amount of washing hands and changing water that needs to be done is maddening!). Well we do live in India so I had my team of maids clean all this up within minutes. Yup, within ten minutes, the glass doors, balcony floors, indoor floors, trays, containers were all washed up.

DeleteThis kind of activity is fun for any age! Open-ended and so sensorial. Photos are great, too.
ReplyDeleteYes it is! Many kids love painting 'big'. Mine is usually ok with a small A4 size sheet! Sometimes its fun to work on a 'big' canvas.
