I still miss my no fuss Art Studio in India - where I really meant it when I said “do whatever you want” but this recreational table is for the whole family. We sit with our laptops to work, or paint or learn Spanish with our tutor. That’s our idea of parallel play! We each are absorbed in our own activities while sitting next to each other!
I found a set of styrofoam/thermocol solar system in the stationary section in the mall. How cool is that! If I’d seen it earlier I’d use these for our earlier Solar System Project with Pumpkin. These little ones are so light that they could be used to hang from our lamps over our recreational table.
I’d already hung some pretty stars and adding some planets seemed to make sense.
I wouldn’t have bothered with paint if my son didn’t enjoy painting and would’ve just doused em all in glitter straight away. If you think it’s easy peasy- let me tell you that it’s not. It’s a two day project to be done leisurely! We painted it twice and sprinkled glitter dust - allowing plenty time in between to dry. Then I ‘sewed’ thread with a needle through each planet and taped the other end of the thread with magic tape on the inside of each lamp. And that’s about it.
Look at these Glittery Balls! I wasn't totally crazy considering using these are our christmas tree ornaments! def next time! |
